2018 Itinerary:
Day 1 (Wednesday)               MADRID / TRUJILLO / LISBON
Depart from the centrally located VPT Tours Office / Bus Terminal at 0800 and drive towards Extremadura region, a relaxing drive to Trujillo, hometown of many discoverers of the new world. Free time to see the beautiful Plaza Mayor. Continue on through Portuguese soil along the Alentejo plains. Arrive over the impressive bridge 25th April to Lisbon, capital city of Portugal. Accommodation. Optional night tour to attend a show of Fado (typical Portuguese songs and music).
 
Day 2 (Thursday)                   LISBON
After breakfast a morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo, drive through its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoveries, Marquis of Pombal Square, Liberty Avenue and the Alfama quarter. Afternoon at leisure. Accommodation. Optional excursion to Sintra, Estoril & Cascais.
 
Day 3 (Friday)                       LISBON / FATIMA / LISBON
After breakfast, depart for Fatima, the day is at your disposal for activities of a personal nature in Fátima. This city is a centre of Christian faith and world pilgrimage. Maybe visit the church where the tombstones of Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco are, as well as the Chapel of Apparitions, heart of the shrine. You will have time to attend a mass. At the end of the day return to Lisbon through the colourful farming region. Accommodation.
 
Day 4 (Saturday)                    LISBON / CACERES / SEVILLE
Breakfast and depart for Caceres (World Heritage City), founded by the Romans in 25BC, the old town section of this beautiful city invites travellers to enjoy medieval streets, plazas, towers, battlements, palaces, churches and convents. Free time on arrival may allow time for some exploration or perhaps a chance to enjoy the highly regarded local cuisine and wines at one of many inns and restaurants. Next is Seville, a wonderful city, regarded by some as the romantic capital of Andalucía. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 5 (Sunday)                      SEVILLE
After breakfast a morning city tour visiting the Barrio de Santa Cruz with its narrow streets, the Park of Maria Luisa and Plaza de Espana, with panoramic sightseeing of the city. Optional Artistic tour including the Royal Alcazar Palace. An afternoon at leisure to explore the city, perhaps a river cruise along the Guadalquir or a visit to the pseudo reconstruction of Pontius Pilates House (Casa de Pilatos), which began in the 16th century, and presents an interesting blend of mudejar, gothic and renaissance styles with its beautiful patio and gallery, elegant fountain and ornamental minerva statues. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 6 (Monday)                     SEVILLE / CORDOBA
After breakfast depart for Cordoba where upon arrive enjoy a sightseeing program including the magnificent 8th century Mezquita/Mosque/Cathedral and the historic Jewish quarter, with its narrow winding streets, decorated courtyards and patios of flowers. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the city. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 7 (Tuesday)                    CORDOBA / RONDA / MARBELLA
Following breakfast, travel the route of the white villages including a stopover in Ronda, located over a deep ravine cut into rock 100 metres the Rio Tajo. Ronda has a spectacular location, this town simply invites visitors to wander along fascinating streets and alleys, or relax at one of the local cafes, perhaps overlooking the gorge, enjoying the beautiful regional cuisine and fine local wines while watching the world go by. Continue to the Costa del Sol and arrive into Marbella. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 8 (Wednesday)               MARBELLA
After breakfast full day at leisure. Optional tours available. Dinner at your hotel.

Day 10 (Friday)                      MARBELLA / TANGIER / CASABLANCA
After breakfastdepart for Algeciras or Tarifa to board the ferry crossing the Strait of Gibraltar towards Africa. Arrive into Morocco and after customs continue by motorcoach tothe cosmopolitan city of Casablanca, made even more famous by the movie “Casablanca”. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 11 (Saturday)                  CASABLANCA / MARRAKECH
After breakfast a panoramic tour of Casablanca, economical capital and most populated city in Morocco, visiting Anfa Boulevard, Nations Square and residential areas. We will continue our visit to see the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque, second in size and importance after Mecca. Depart for Marrakech and in the afternoon take a sightseeing tour of this Imperial city visiting the Koutubia, twin mosque of the Giralda of Seville, the Saddian Tombs, Bahia Palace and the famous Djemaa el Fna Square filled with its magical sights and sounds including snake charmers, jugglers, acrobats, storytellers, pickpockets and even dentists. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 12 (Sunday)                    MARRAKECH / RABAT / MEKNES / FES
Breakfast then depart to Rabat, capital of the Kingdom of Morocco and official residence of the King. Enjoy a sightseeing city tour including the exterior of the Royal Palace, Mausoleum of Mohamed V and the Hassan Tower, symbol of this city. Time at leisure. Continue to Meknes, old walled city dating from 17th century, located in the mid-Atlas mountains, surrounded by 40kms of walls and the most beautiful gate in Morocco, “Bab Al Mansour”. Arrive into Fes. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 13 (Monday)                   FES
The most ancient of the Imperial Cities, founded in the 8th century, Fes has become the spiritual heart and cultural centre of Morocco. Following breakfast, a morning sightseeing program including the Medersa, considered to be the first university of the Islamic world, the old Kasbah and its narrow streets, a visit to the dyers and tanners quarters where sheep and goatskins are coloured and processed into fashionable garments, the fountain Najerine, and the great Medina. An afternoon at leisure allows visitors to discover and explore Fes themselves which can be achieved in hours or days, this is a wonderful city with a fabulous “World Heritage” medieval medina. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 14 (Tuesday)                  FES / TANGIER / MARBELLA
After breakfast departure to board the ferry and cross the Strait back to Spain. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 15 (Wednesday)             MARBELLA / GRANADA
After breakfast depart for Granada, the final stronghold of the Moorish Kingdom in 1492, a glorious city immortalised in song and verse, overlooked by the majestic snow covered Sierra Nevadas. Enjoy a sightseeing tour visiting the Alhambra with its beautiful Nazari Palaces and the Generalife Gardens, which showcases Moorish palaces and towers and gardens, including terraces, pools and fountains in an incomparable setting – the Alhambra is special. Dinner and accommodation.
 
Day 16 (Thursday)                 GRANADA / TOLEDO / MADRID
After breakfast travel to the Imperial city of Toledo – a national monument of Spain, where the cultures and great religions of Spain (Christian, Moorish and Jewish) have left behind a legacy that makes Toledo a special place to visit. After lunch, your sightseeing tour includes Spanish art, history and spirituality, helping to uncover some secrets of this historical and artistic city. Next is Madrid – END OF TOUR.
