2018-2019 Itinerary:
Day 1 (Sunday)                      ARRIVE MADRID
Madrid airport arrival transfer to your hotel for 2 nights’ accommodation. Your day is free (perhaps book an optional evening Tapas Tour or Prado “Skip the Line” Afternoon Tour).
Day 2 (Monday)                     MADRID
After breakfast; pickup from your hotel for a morning panoramic sightseeing tour of Madrid. Your afternoon is free to continue exploring the wonders that the city has to offer. Accommodation.
Day 3 (Tuesday)                    MADRID / ALIVIA / SALAMANCA / PORTO
Depart at 0830 from the Julia Bus Terminal (Plaza de Oriente) and drive to Alivia, a city that preserves its medieval wall; a short stop to see the wall and the old town, then onto Salamanca. Free time in this University City; next depart to the Portuguese border until we reach the city of Porto. Accommodation.
Day 4 (Wednesday)               PORTO
After breakfast enjoy a panoramic tour of this World Heritage city; to admire the Cathedral, the stock Exchange building and the Santa Clara church. Accommodation. Optional: Taste the famous “Port wine” at a local wine cellar.
Day 5 (Thursday)                   PORTO/ COIMBRA / FATIMA
Breakfast and depart to Coimbra, site of one of the oldest universities in Europe, famous as a centre of learning and culture as seen in ancient streets and architecture,and birthplace of Fado, the music of Portugal. Free time, then continue to Fatima, centre of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria place where the Virgin Maryappeared. The Chapel of the Apparitions, heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. Tonight there is the possibility to attend the procession of the candles. Accommodation.
Day 6 (Friday)                       FATIMA / BATALHA / NAZARE / ALCOBACA / LISBON
After breakfast depart to the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage place by UNESCO. Continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazare. Free time and continue to Alcobaca (World Heritage) visit the 12th century church and admire the tombs of Pedro and Ines de Castro and then to Lisbon. Accommodation. Optional night tour to attend a show of Fado, typical Portuguese song and music.
Day 7 (Saturday)                    LISBON
After breakfast a sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo, drive through its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoveries, Marquis of Pombal Square, Liberty Avenue. The afternoon is at leisure, maybe visit the Alfama quarter and the old city gathered next to the castle, with buildings nested in narrow twisting “Ruas” full of colour housing the genuine “tebernas” where Fado sounds as a missing past. Accommodation.
Day 8 (Sunday)                      LISBON / CACERES / CORDOBA
Breakfast and depart at 0730 for Caceres (World Heritage City)because of the city's blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. We will walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town with its Medieval Quarter. Continue to Cordoba, once the capital of the Caliphate. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 9 (Monday)                     CORDOBA / SEVILLE
After breakfast a Cordoba city tour including the impressive Mosque and Jewish Quarter. Continue to Seville, a wonderful city, regarded by some as the romantic capital of Andalucía. Visitors can understand why this city is the setting for the Operas Carmen, Don Juan & Figaro as well as being the home of the fiery flamenco; they feel it in the narrow streets, squares, courtyards and colourful patios of the Santa Cruz district. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 10 (Tuesday)                  SEVILLE
After breakfast enjoy a panoramic tour including the Cathedral from outside, Santa Cruz Quarter, and Maria Luisa Gardens. An afternoon at leisure to explore the city, perhaps a river cruise along the Guadalquir or a visit to the pseudo reconstruction of Pontius Pilates House (Casa de Pilatos), which began in the 16th century, and presents an interesting blend of mudejar, gothic and renaissance styles with its beautiful patio and gallery, elegant fountain and ornamental minerva statues. Dinner and accommodation. Optional Flamenco tour.
Day 11 (Wednesday)             SEVILLE / RONDA / COSTA DEL SOL
Following breakfast, travel the route of the white villages including a stopover in Ronda, located over a deep ravine cut into rock. Enjoy time to admire this town of Celtic origin and the marvellous view of the valley and mountain range. In the afternoon continue to the Costa del Sol. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 12 (Thursday)                 COSTA DEL SOL
Today your breakfast and dinner is included. The whole day is at leisure. Optional tours are available.
Day 13 (Friday)                      COSTAL DEL SOL / TANGIER / RABAT / CASABLANCA
After breakfast, drive along the Costa del Sol to Tarifa to board the ferry to cross the strait of Gibraltar. Arrive in at Tangier in Morocco, disembark and continue via Larache to Rabat for a city tour of the diplomatic and administrative capital, including an outside visit of the most important sights such as the Royal Palace, Mohamed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower. Then depart for Casablanca, the economic capital, for dinner and accommodation.
Day 14 (Saturday)                  CASABLANCA / MARRAKECH
Breakfast, then a panoramic city tour of Casablanca, including the most interesting sites of the city – Anfa Boulevard, Nations square, and an outside visit of Hassan II grand mosque. Continue to Marrakech. Enjoy a visit of Marrakech, the South capital, which is located within an extensive oasis between the Atlas Mountains and the pre-deserted area, including the Koutoubia Tower, twin tower of the Giralda in Seville, Saadines Tombs and Bay Palace and Djemaa El Fna Square, which is packed with fortune tellers, snake tamers, acrobats, dancers etc. Dinner and accommodation. Optional dinner & show at the Chez Ali Fantasia.
Day 15 (Sunday)                    MARRAKECH / MEKNES / FES
Breakfast, then drive to towards the ancient and imperial city of Meknes, with a short panoramic city tour including the great Bab Al Mansour Gate. Continue onto Fes for dinner and 2 nights accommodation.
Day 16 (Monday)                   FES
After breakfast, take a morning city tour of Fes, the most ancient of the Imperial Cities of Morocco, visiting the more interesting points of the city: the 7 gates of the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarter or Mellah, the Gate of Bab Jelous and a walking tour of the “Medina” (Old City), declared a World Heritage site. Afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. Dinner and accommodation. Tonight enjoy an optional dinner and show.
Day 17 (Tuesday)                  FES / TANGIER / COSTA DEL SOL
After breakfast depart for Tangier and then board the ferry to return across the strait of Gibraltar back to Spain. Disembark and continue to Costa del Sol. Dinner and 2 nights’ accommodation.
Day 18 (Wednesday)             COSTA DEL SOL
Today your breakfast and dinner is included. The whole day is at leisure. Optional tours are available.
Day 19 (Thursday)                 COSTA DEL SOL / GRANADA
After breakfast depart for Granada, a glorious city immortalised in song and verse, overlooked by the majestic snow covered Sierra Nevadas. Visit the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens, the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492, an amazing monumental environment. Dinner and accommodation. Optional Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte quarter.
Day 20 (Friday)                      GRANADA / TOLEDO / MADRID
Breakfast; then depart for the Imperial City of Toledo (World Heritage city), where the three cultures of Spain (Christians, Moorish and Jewish) have lived together. Enjoy a short guided tour of this historical old town through its narrow streets. Then visit the famous “Damasquinado” (gold and silver inlaying in iron) workshop. Continue to Madrid. Accommodation.
Day 21 (Saturday)                  DEPART MADRID
Breakfast then transfer to Madrid airport. END OF TOUR.
