2017 Itinerary:
Day 1              ARRIVE LISBON
Today you will be met at Lisbon airport and transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon is at leisure. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 2              LISBON – SINTRA – LISBON
Today, after breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Lisbon including the 16th century Jeronimo’s Monastery (UNESCO); the Monument to the Discoveries, honouring intrepid Portuguese explorers and their patrons; and the impressive Belem Tower. Visit an old patisserie that has managed to hold on to the secret recipe of Portugal’s finest pastry for over 100 years and enjoy a demonstration and tasting of the famous ‘pastéis de Belem’. Its unique narrow streets, lined with whitewashed chapels and white houses edged in blue, are the perfect place for thoughtful wandering. Continue to the town of Sintra, a UNESCO site and the favourite summer house of Portuguese kings for 6 centuries. Here, peruse specialty shops filled with Portuguese handicrafts. Day 3              LISBON – SETUBAL – LISBON
After breakfast we will visit 2 vineyards Casa Museu José Maria da Fonseca and Adega da Bacalhôa. Accommodation in Lisbon.
Day 4              LISBON – ÓBIDOS – FÁTIMA – PORTO
Following breakfast your day on Portugal’s “Silver Coast” begins in the medieval walled village of Óbidos, surrounded by medieval walls and its whitewashed houses. Don’t forget to drink Ginja, a Portuguese liqueur made by infusing ginja berries, and the 2nd most popular alcoholic drink in Portugal after the Port wine. This tour also features the imposing sanctuary of Fátima, a centre of Catholic faith and destination for pilgrims from across the world. Accommodation in Porto.
Day 5              PORTO
Breakfast at your hotel; Elected “Best European Destination 2012”, Porto, is full of history, architecture, culture, gastronomy, trade, encounters and discoveries. Walking tour in Porto, visit the city’s historical centre (World Heritage) and monuments of Porto, including: Torre dos Clérigos, Livraria Lello e Irmão, Avenida dos Aliados, Estação de S. Bento, Ponte Luís I, Sé Catedral, Bairro da Sé and Ribeira. Accommodation in Porto.
Day 6              DOURO VALLEY DAY TRIP
Breakfast at your hotel enjoy an unforgettable journey through the beautiful landscapes of scenic mountains and wonderful views, to some of the best vineyards in Portugal. Lunch included. Accommodation in Porto
Day 7              PORTO – BRAGA – GUIMARAES – PORTO
Guided tour in the city of Braga, known as the “Portuguese Rome”, for its concentration of religious architecture, as the oldest city has over 2000 years of history. We will visit The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro, Bom Jesus and a special wine farm near the centre of Braga (Vinho Verde). In the afternoon we visit Guimaraes, a historic town, exceptionally well-preserved and an authentic example of the evolution of a medieval settlement into a modern town. Optional visits to the museums and monuments. Accommodation in Porto
Day 8              DEPART PORTO
After breakfast transfer to Porto Airport. END OF SERVICES.
