Day 1              LISBON / SINTRA / CABO DA ROCA / CASCAIS / ESTORIL / LISBON

Depart Lisbon for Sintra to visit the romantic palace of Sintra (Pena Palace) a fairy-tale castle, located in one of the highest peaks of Sintra mountain range. After the tour enjoy free time to walk through the village (Cultural Landscape by UNESCO). Take the time to appreciate the several handicraft shops and tea-rooms, taste the delicious local sweets like the “queijadas” or the “travesseiros”. Next travel to Colares* region recognized for its table wines and continue to the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca. Driving along the cost pass by one of the most famous surfing beaches in Portugal, Boca do Inferno, the cosmopolitan Cascais and the gardens of Estoril Casino. Return to Lisbon. Accommodation.

Day 2              LISBON / ÓBIDOS / ALCOBAÇA / NAZARÉ / BATALHA / FÁTIMA / LISBON

Leaving Lisbon through a landscape rich with fruit trees and beautiful windmills. Arriving in Obidos surrounded by medieval walls to admire the architecture, the handicrafts and taste some famous Ginginha (bitter cherry liqueur). Next is Alcobaça with the first and largest gothic church in Portugal, housing the tombs of D. Pedro and Inês de Castro, known for their love story. Following this enjoy a stop in Nazare, a typical fishing village, before continuing to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria de Victoria – a masterpiece of the Gothic style. Visit the tomb of Henry the Navigator, promoter of the maritime discoveries. Then arrive at the Sanctuary of our Lady of Fátima centre of Christian faith and world pilgrimage. Visit the Basilica with the tombs of: Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta; the Apparition Chapel, heart of the shrine. If possible, time to attend mass. We return to Lisbon by a rich agricultural region. Return to Lisbon. Accommodation. (B)

Day 3              LISBON / ÉVORA / MONSARAZ / LISBON

Enjoy a day discovering the town of Évora. Leaving Lisbon, cross the bridge over the river Tagus, pass by the beautiful bucolic landscape of olive trees, cork oak trees and vineyards to arrive in Évora – a World Heritage of UNESCO. In the whitewashed town of Évora walk along the narrow streets visiting some of the most important monuments including the Roman Temple, the Romanesque-gothic Cathedral, Saint Francis Church whit the “Bones Chapel“, and the University. At the market see and feel the richness of products used to prepare traditional foods of the Portuguese cuisine. During the tour admire the diversity and authenticity of local handicrafts made with cork, ceramics and copper. In the afternoon depart to Monsaraz to visit the Herdade do Esporão one of the most important wine cellars in Portugal and, at the end of the visit we taste some wines and olive oil.
